- The Big Shot Talent Competition is open to any performers who reside in metro Detroit and are over the age of 21.
- No employees of Michigan Podcast Productions or Planet Ant are permitted to participate.
- Participants will be required to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 at the time of their performance. Failure to do so will result in immediate elimination from the competition.
- Musical contestants must be be unsigned talent local to metro Detroit without national exposure.
- Entries for the contest must be received by the due date and are subject to time availability of openings remaining. Anyone registering after due date may not have a chance to compete due to time slot availability.
- The maximum number of participants in an act is six.
- An act will only be provided with a maximum of three microphones and/or two direct input boxes.
- Act performances will have an equal but limited amount of time. Acts that go overtime may be immediately disqualified.
- Each judge may vote to eliminate an act at any time during their performance. If all four judges vote to eliminate the act, it will be immediately removed from the competition.
- Entry submission does not guarantee an opportunity to perform in preliminary rounds. Selections for the preliminary rounds will be made by the event producers at their own discretion.
- Michigan Podcast Productions reserves the right at any time to require proof of identity and/or eligibility. Failure to provide such proof within a reasonable time could result in disqualification from the competition. All personal details and information requested by Michigan Podcast Productions by each contestant must be truthful, accurate and in no way misleading. Michigan Podcast Productions reserves the discretion to investigate and disqualify any contestant, should the contestant at any stage of the event supply untruthful, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information or should the contestant be ineligible for the competition pursuant to these rules.
- By submission of an application and entering into this contest, each contestant represents and warrants his or her compliance with these rules and regulations. No contestant will be permitted to audition or participate unless he or she has acknowledged and agreed to these rules and regulations.
- By entering, each contestant agrees that Michigan Podcast Productions and their successors have the right to use their names, likenesses, and images of all persons performing for future advertising, promotion and publicity in any manner and in any medium now known or hereafter devised in perpetuity.
- Contestants may perform as a solo act, duo, or group.
- Contestants MAY NOT utilize fire, animals, or any other equipment deemed by the event producer to be hazardous.
- Contestants are permitted a single musical cue per act. If the act requires music to be played by the venue, the act must supply that music as a .WAV or MP3 file to the event producer at least 48 hours in advance.
- Contestants and/or their family or associates are not allowed to have contact with any contest judge before or during the competition. Please do not hang out in back of or around the judge’s area.
- Contestants and/or their family or associates who exhibit offensive behavior during any portion of the competition may result in the disqualification of the contestant from further competition. Offensive behavior includes poor sportsmanship, bad manners and lack of decorum.
- Performances will be judged by a guest panel. The highest scoring acts in each round will advance, along with one “audience vote” judge.
- Audience members may purchase votes to cast. There is no limit to the number of votes a person may purchase.
- The decision of the judges is final.
